JTS have valve timing chain, the manufacturer, at least in the manual not mentions anything about the need to replace the belt, as it will be a problem with that, lights up the carrot. 2.2 it is a problem with the chain stretch (computer shows error), 1.9 yet spotfeces with this problem or with information about it, despite the fact that before buying a little googla wymęczyłem in this matter. I also have a 1.9 JTS. Oil replaced by 44.000. Currently I have about 58,000 and the indicator MAX. The probe also noticed that the level oil fell. I drive a Selenii in accordance with the recommendation of AR.

From what I can see, it's hard to find fault with engineand the 1.9 JTS, except for some subjective feelings that are too small engine for the weight of the car.
In the network wanders a lot of reviews, which, apparently, greatly exaggerated.

Super that more and more people are convinced of JTS that
I, operation 159 2.2 JTS since July and until ALL!!!! For people who have dilemma quote one of my posts in the topic engineand 2.2 JTS :
"I will Write an objective opinion about the engine 2.2 JTS in Alfie Romeo 159. The Italian insists that translate to gasoline, but mileage and possible repairs/upgrades ( EGR, DPF, Dwumas, Clutch, etc.) effectively me from choosing diesel rejected. The choice fell on the 2.2 JTS unit. The reason is simple - 1.9 JTS for me is too weak, the 1750 TBi were not included in the game ( prices due to young year ) , 3.2 V6 JTS - burning at the level of 16 Liters were not included in the game. Alpha, which I bought originally from the Polish of the salon, has a documented mileage of 89000 KM. With sprowadzanymi dieslami this is, unfortunately, difficult. Car since 2010, has 130 000 KM of run, in ads, as in 2006...a massacre.
As for the engine :
- Work culture is good. Even if the engine is cold or hot, his work is at a very high level.
- The sound of the engine/exhaust system is not something special. How threaded the car to high rpm, it's beautiful "howling", but not Boxer or Busso V6...
- Before purchase learned that the 159 is heavy, "should be" 1000 KM to withstand this "colossus" and other similar, you can say...185 KM, the car runs SUPER!!!! Auto dynamic, quick, has very good torque. To drive in 60 KM/H on the 6th gear, slightly pressing the gas pedal, and the car with no problems and raced ahead. Catalog 8.8 sec. to "hundreds" very low...a few times with friends, we always got a Us 8 seconds to 100 KM/H, sometimes, 8.1-8.2. I think this is a very good result. At least satisfies me.
The burning in my cycle 80 % city ( Zabrze, Poland ), 20 % trail ( some weekends, etc.), fuel consumption by computerand L. is 9.3 is that a lot ? I think not, because previous petrol Alfa I - 146 1.6 Boxer burns exactly 10l/100KM and 147 2.0 TS - 11.5 L/100KM.
- The engine does not take anything oilworks exactly
I'll write more why I decided 159 in petrol...Returning to an earlier Alfa 156 with the rehearsal, at the intersection, I saw the last TT-Kyo, beautiful, white, huge wheels, dual exhaust is really impressive ( and I don't like Audi..especially their design ). I roll down the window down and I hear ???? Ter Ter Ter Ter Ter Ter Ter Ter...GARBAGE !! 2.0 TDI 170 HP....and then I thought that the 159 is with THIS appearance ( as for me the most beautiful Alfa Romeos - except, of course, Competizione, because Our wallets, and, at least mine, hehe , not so terkotać !! Also I get great pleasure, like going to a traffic light, my silence, and the guy next noise and a lot of noise
I also noticed that people who write poorly about units, 2.2 JTS, just not had to deal with them. And not surprisingly, 90 % of ads JTD...I think whoever decided on this engine will be the same, and maybe even happier than me. I highly recommend and sincerely "
